How to set smart fitness goals and achieve them in 2023

Great excitement to be in 2023 already. Wow, we made it guys. I don’t know where to start from but if you are reading this post I say to you again, happy new year.

This year is personal for several reasons which I will share with you in a few seconds before jumping on how to set and achieve your fitness goals in 2023.

2022 didn’t go by without leaving us with a scar and a smile.

A scar that we lost one of the world renowned athletes Pele who achieved great success both on the pitch and off the pitch. He was the only football player to win 3 World Cups. A legend he was.

A scar that the world lost a great servant of God, Pope Benedict XVI who died on the 31st day of December 2022 just as we all are gearing to say happy new year in 2023.

A smile that we all are in 2023 irrespective of the failures and achievements of 2022.

I said the year is personal because not everyone pays attention to their health. It’s personal because many will come up with resolutions but only few will follow it to the end because they took their resolutions personally.

If your new year goals do not include how to get fit by exercising regularly then you should reconsider because you can’t achieve goals when you’re not fit and healthy.

Setting and achieving fitness goals can be a rewarding and challenging process. Here are some tips to help you set and achieve your fitness goals in 2023:

  • Be specific: Rather than setting a general goal like “lose weight,” try setting a specific goal like “lose 10 pounds in the next three months.” Specific goals are more achievable because they provide a clear target for you to work towards.

There’re many things that you can’t achieve alone in life and can be likened to it but with the needed support you can achieve more.
  • Make a plan: Once you have your goals in place, it’s time to create a plan to achieve them. This should include specific steps you will take to reach your goals, such as joining a gym, hiring a personal trainer, or following a specific workout routine, without a good plan you will find some shocking reasons you don’t exercise

Remember the popular saying, if you failed to plan you’re planning to fail. Of course nobody wants to fail but that is the sad reality that to avoid failure you should plan.

  • Track your progress: It’s important to track your progress along the way to see how you are doing. This can help you stay motivated and make any necessary adjustments to your plan.

Celebrating your success as you progress also motivates you to do more.

  • Be consistent: Consistency is key when it comes to achieving your fitness goals. It’s important to stick to your plan and make time for regular physical activity. Lack of consistency will cause many to abandon their resolutions. This shouldn’t happen to you in 2023
  • Celebrate your victories: Don’t forget to celebrate your victories along the way. Every time you reach a short-term goal or make progress towards a long-term goal, take some time to celebrate your success. This will help keep you motivated and on track. You may begin with basic exercise routine for maximum fitness
  • Avoid unhealthy competitions: To avoid unhealthy competition, it’s important to focus on personal growth and development, rather than just winning or beating others. Setting personal goals and striving to improve yourself can help you stay motivated and engaged, without feeling the need to constantly compare yourself to others. To add, you should be better than yesterday in your fitness journey.
